Libya triumph in Continental Cup action in Cameroon

Libya's men topped Group E, moving closer to qualification for the London 2012 Olympic Games

Douala, Cameroon, January 29, 2011 – Libya advanced to the zonal phase of the Africa (CAVB) Men's Continental Cup Olympic Games qualifying competition as top seeds after winning the Group C sub-zonal tournament in Douala on Saturday.

Cameroon was hosting the eighth CAVB Continental Cup sub-zonal tournament following events in Benin, Togo, Rwanda, Sudan, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Namibia. 

Libya came out on top after a 4-0 victory over the Central African Republic in the final, having already defeated Gabon 3-1 in pool play. The Central African Republic had reached the final after beating hosts Cameroon in a golden set play-off with the teams tied at 2-2. In the play-off for third and fourth, Cameroon beat Gabon 4-0. 

All participants in the African Continental Cup sub-zonal phase advance to the zonal phase, with seeding playing a crucial role.
