Guaymas, Mexico, June 26, 2016 – As expected it will be Canada versus Cuba battling for the NORCECA men’s beach volleyball Olympic berth in the Continental Cup in Guaymas, Mexico on Sunday.

Canada scored three straight wins to take the semifinal best-of-five series against Puerto Rico, while Cuba defeated hosts Mexico 3-0 with one of the matches stretched to three sets.

Canada’s Grant O’Gorman and Sam Pedlow opened the day with a straight-sets win over Hector Soto and Kevin Rodriguez (21-18, 21-13) and then Josh Binstock and Sam Schachter, prevailed in two sets (21-18, 21-19) against Fernando Morales and Juan Ribas.

The team of O’Gorman/Pedlow came back to finish off Puerto Rico with a straight sets win (21-17, 21-18) over Morales/Ribas.

Cuba’s Sergio Gonzalez and Nivaldo Diaz opened with a 2-0 (21-11, 21-19) victory over Juan Revuelta and Ricardo Galindo, followed by the close 2-1 (21-11, 19-21, 15-11) win of Karell Peña and Daisel Quesada against Josué Gaxiola and José Luis Rubio.
