2012 will be the sixth year in a row that
Seoul will host a FIVB Beach Volleyball event as it prepares to host the
FIVB Seoul Challenger from May 30 to June 3.
The city hosted
single-gender events on the FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCH World Tour from
2007-2010 as well as a Challenger tournament last year as the profile of
the sport continues to grow at a rapid pace in the country.
Women's pairs from across the world outside the top 32 ranked teams will travel to the country looking to claim top spot on
the podium in what has become a regular event on the FIVB beach
volleyball calendar.
With over 10 million people living within
its city limits, Seoul is one of the most populous cities in the world.
However, with an area of only 605 square kilometres, Seoul is one of the
most densely populated major cities, like Tokyo and Hong Kong. Seoul's
population density has allowed it to become one of the world's most
digitally-connected cities. Upon the establishment of the Republic of
Korea in 1948, Seoul became the capital and was designated the nation's
only Special City. |
