2011 will be the fifth year in a row that
Seoul will host a FIVB Beach Volleyball event as it prepares to host the
FIVB Seoul Satellite from June 15-19.
The city has hosted
single-gender events on the FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour for
the last three years, all of which have been highly successful, so
confidence is high for a fantastic event this time around.
Teams
from across the world, except the top 24 ranked men’s and top 16 ranked
women’s teams, will travel to the country looking to claim top spot on
the podium in what has become a regular event on the FIVB beach
volleyball calendar.
With over 10 million people living within
its city limits, Seoul is one of the most populous cities in the world.
However, with an area of only 605 square kilometres, Seoul is one of the
most densely populated major cities, like Tokyo and Hong Kong. Seoul's
population density has allowed it to become one of the world's most
digitally-connected cities. Upon the establishment of the Republic of
Korea in 1948, Seoul became the capital and was designated the nation's
only Special City. |
