Second Swiss victory for Adriana Behar-Shelda

Gstaad, Switzerland, 23 June - Defending Gstaad champions, Brazilians Behar-Shelda, defeated American duo Fontana-Youngs, gold medallist in Calgliari, in a packed stadium in the fabulous Swiss Alpine resort of Gstaad in the gold medal match 2-0 (21-15, 22-20) in 43 minutes.

The champions, after receiving the 27,000 US$ prize money expressed their joy and fun to play in Gstaad because of its fantastic atmosphere where the communion with the spectators has always been magical.

In the 5th place match, Behar-Shelda upset the public’s expectation by beating favourite Holly McPeak with her new partner Lisa Arce 2-1 battling for almost one hour.

Another upset was the defeat of Olympic champions Cook-Pottharst (AUS) by Americans McPeak-Arce in three sets 2-1(20:22, 21:16, 15:13) on the second day of the main draw, but Cook was visibly weakened by a leg injury.
