San Sebastian
is the provincial capital of
Guipuzcoa, in
the
Basque Country
This city is
known for its beaches. San Sebastian has three beaches situated in the middle of
the City.
They are Playa
de La Concha, Ondarreta and Playa de Gros/La Zurriola.
La Concha is
the most centrally located and most famous. The beach is spread out in a
crescent form that stretches around the bay. This is the best of three beaches.
Ondaretta is
right next to the La Concha. This beach isn't as crowded as it's neighbor. The
Palacio Miramar, once a summer home of Spanish royalty, is right next to the
beach.
Another
important attraction is the
Basque cuisine, which is famous within Spain and many believe it is the Basque
Country where you can find the best food. Much of this fame comes from San
Sebastian and its bars and restaurants. Although tapas were invented in
Andalucia they became perfected in San Sebastian and a walk through the old town
before lunch time with its many bars shows why. Each bar is bursting with tapas
and they look very delicate.

San
Sebastian has a Naval Museum and Aquarium at its harbor, plus a science park and
leisure center. Or just book one treatment after another at La Perla Seawater
Fitness Centre on La Concha Beach and the day will fly by in a massage stupor.
Yet for all
their cachet, San Sebastian's beaches are just one choice along the coastline
from the French border to the western edge of the Basque country.
