Two
days after the completion of the first event on the 2004
Swatch-FIVB World Tour, (the Forteleza women’s Open),
the first men’s tournament begins in Salvador, a perfect
place to launch the men’s component of the Swatch-FIVB
World Tour.
Salvador is literally surrounded by beaches, perfect for
Beach Volleyball and a jaw-dropper for all tourists.
People go to relax, cool off, chill, socialize, eat,
drink, dance, play Beach, surf, and of course swim and
the beaches vary from crowded city beaches great for
meeting people to tropical idylls a short way up the
coast.
And with such a wonderful venue to perform in all of the
best international men’s Beach Volleyball teams will be
in action in one of the most beautiful cities in the
world. Its beauty and unique features make it a primary
target for international tourism and for the Swatch-FIVB
World Tour.

Famous for its history, its hospitable people and the
legacy left by people from other continents, Salvador is
one of a select band of cities which has an electricity
you feel from the moment you arrive.
For
a start its shore is one of the longest in Brazil,
including 34 kilometers of beach, spreading across
Cidade Alta and Cidade Baixa. The beaches located
between Cidade Baixa and Porto da Barra are bathed by
the calm waters of Todos os Santos Bay and the others by
the Atlantic Ocean.
Salvador looks onto a bay, the Baía de Todos os Santos,
and is ringed with beaches and dotted with tropical
islands. To the northeast of the city a string of
fishing villages lies along a beautiful coastline – in
short, no lack of places of inspiration.
And there’s no doubt the men’s players on the 2004
Swatch-FIVB World Tour won’t be lacking any either in
what promises to be a superb opening to the season
ahead.
