 After a year's absence
top class international Beach Volleyball returns to Italy with the
SWATCH-FIVB World Tour Italian Open in Milan from
September 3-7.
Italian Beach Volleyball has a renewed enthusiasm after
the success of the U21 World Championships in Catania
last year and
courtesy of the impetus from the International
Volleyball Federation (FIVB), the Italian
Federation (Fipav) and Rcs Sport Events, among others,
Milan is set to show the showpiece Beach Volleyball
event of the year on Italian soil.
The Arco della Pace (Arc of Peace) - Parco Sempione is
an inspirational setting for the elite women's teams as
they compete in the last tournament before they prepare
for the final Grand Slam of the year in Los Angeles in
two weeks time.
 For the first time in Italy, a large inland town will be
the theatre where the elite of women's Beach Volleyball
perform. Places like Berlin in Germany, Klagenfurt in
Austria and Switzerland's Gstaad have proven how a non
seaside city can make Beach Volleyball work and Milan is
determined to follow suit.
One thing is for sure, good food won't be the only thing
on the menu in Italy come early September and top class
Beach Volleyball will definitely be the "plat du jour".
