Rhodes,
a taste of Greek Magic ahead of Athens 2004
The FIVB Women’s World Tour this year goes to the
beautiful island of Rhodes (Rodos on Greek)
for a taste of Greek summer magic ahead of
Athens 2004.
This sun-bathed island (the claim is that Rhodes holds the
‘gold Medal” for sunny days in Europe)
is high on most people’s list of
attractive holiday destinations and the
women’s event will give organizers a
chance to run through procedures ahead of
next year’s competition when qualification
for Athens 2002 gets underway.
The unique island scenery - ancient castle ruins, picture
book white houses and welcoming fishing
villages are all enhanced by the beaches
that circle the island – calm water on the
eastern side of the island and excellent
windsurfing on the windy west.
This year the tourists
will have another treat – the chance to
see the world’s elite women’s Beach
Volleyball teams in action.
