Background of
CityBeachVolley (CBV), Turku
The CityBeachVolley
tournament has been organized in Turku
for over the past ten years as
an independent invitation tournament
and it has
achieved significant status in Finnish Beach Volleyball
field. The mission
here is to offer,
on continuous basis, a high level event,
ranked in Finland as second to none by audience, players
and/or
partners. It has been have confirmed that there is a high demand for
international events organized around Beach Volleyball
in Finland.
The aim of the
organization is to support sports activities among the youth and
to bring Beach Volleyball to people’s
attention. The CBV
organization develops,
markets and accomplishes Beach Volleyball activities and
participates in activities supporting young
people's healthy
lifestyles. To back up and enable the activities,
this association annually
organizes a high level CityBeachVolley
tournament in Turku and this year is
thrilled to finally bring FIVB Beach Volleyball to its region.
CBV 2005-2007

being
taken is organizing
this year's FIVB
Men's Satellite tournament in Turku.
A kid's camp & an other Beach
Volleyball tournament for our partners
will also be orgnaized durign
the same CBV week. The combination
concept will last for
4 days and it contains following elements:
FIVB Men’s FIVB

Admission is free for the public.
Women’s invitational tournament

Children’s beach camp
(camp
kid fun)
Holiday Club Caribia will organize a childrens' playful event in
Holiday Club Caribia. CBV is to invite some
children from the
SOS Children’s Village to participate in the camp. The purpose
of this camp is to give positive experiences
to children, while incorporating
sport, who normally do not have
the possibility of
experiencing such
luxuries as this.
Business event
(have a nice
day)
CBV will also organize
an informal Beach Volleyball tournament for
its partner’s and other companies
at the Holiday Club Caribia on Wednesday. Participation includes dinner,
refreshments and a relaxing visit in the
club's VIP
spa.
Among all this, the goals
of the "beach volleyball" week are
to:
- Support
and encourage a young,
healthy lifestyle (Sport Academy and youth
psychiatry)
- Ensure that
Turku will possibly be the most significant beach volley city in Finland
in the future
-
Organize a Swatch-FIVB World Tour tournament
in Turku in the forthcoming years
Budget 2005
The
total budget of the CityBeachVolley tournament this year is
about 77.000 €. Most of the income is
collected from partners. The city of
Turku is also one of the Organizers most significant partners. According to the
principles of the organization,
matches are free of charge for the
public (as mentioned above).
Audience
The Organizers
will be expecting over 12'000 visitors
to the CityBeachVolley event this year. Last year,
in the Women’s
national event final,
there were more than 1'500 people
who came to enjoy the game. That is the
all time high number so far and this year,
the Organizers are convinced that they are going to smash it.
The tournament
highlights and relaxed beach volley atmosphere will be
broadcasted
through the digital sports channel Urheilukanava afterwards.
